The Studio Model
The Studio Model
Hands-on, problem- and project-based exploration of the contemporary world
is what we’re all about:
  • Every classroom is a maker space where students participate in exciting, teacher-mentored projects that shape and anchor their learning.
  • Students gain fundamental knowledge and skills while investigating and responding to authentic, complex questions, problems, and challenges.
  • We believe the desire to do something real, create something meaningful, and solve real problems is fundamental to human nature, and we want every Studio School student to engage in practices of making  as learning.
A Community of Learners
A Community of Learners
We hold community as a core value:
  • Each classroom is a connected, inclusive, cooperative and supportive learning-centered environment where students
and educators actively construct knowledge together.
  • Teachers model, encourage,
    and expect active participation
and engagement, and set high expectations for all students while providing appropriate supports
    so all can succeed.
  • We value everyone’s diverse
    point-of-view, contributions
and potential, and we want each Studio School student to feel they truly belong and can thrive in their school community.
21st Century Skills
21st Century Skills
A focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration is essential to prepare students for their future:
  • 21st Century Skills are ways of thinking and abilities essential for success in college.
  • Studio School students become civically aware, digitally savvy global citizens by learning to investigate the world, weigh diverse perspectives, communicate their ideas, take action, and apply their learning to different academic and service-learning projects.
  • We want every Studio School student to actively participate in constructing their role in the changing world around them.
